Challenge—
For Symantec, 2010 saw the arrival of two flagship products – Symantec Backup Exec 2010 and Symantec NetBackup 7. Together these products account for over 50% of SMB and enterprise revenue for the company making it an immensely important launch.
Symantec needed to get both employees and, critically, resellers on board with the new products to ensure success. There was one catch, however, there wasn’t the budget for a physical launch.
Solution—
Banner worked alongside Decisive Media Innovations (DMi) to create a truly interactive virtual event. The Symantec Virtual Expo helped qualified visitors get instant access to the most relevant Symantec collateral and partner content through custom-built campaign stands, including:
- Dedicated environments for Symantec Backup Exec 2010 and Symantec NetBackup 7
- Bespoke areas for the Symantec distributor network, the partner incentives programme and small business specialisation partner group
- Welcome videos from key Symantec directors and product experts
- Contact team function – where visitors could email Symantec representatives directly
- Promotional space and immediate access to related events and materials through an easy-to-update dynamic header field
- A live day of panel discussion and product promotion
The result was almost 7,000 visits to the expo and over 20,000 page views. Something that would be virtually impossible (or at the very least incredibly expensive) with a traditional launch event.
